Lining Your Cake Tin
At Twins, we have plenty of tins for sale and for hire. If you wish to hire one our tins, we require:
- A form of ID (with your address on)
- £10 cash deposit per tin (this must be cash)
Here are some tips for preparing your tins before baking your cake whether using your own or one of ours:
Draw around the base using a pencil
- Place your tin on either baking parchment or greaseproof paper.
- Use a pencil and draw round the exterior of the tin base. Cut out the shape.
- Cut a strip approximately 1.5cm more than the height of your tin. You may have to cut several strips to completely cover the interior of your tin.
- Lightly grease the inside of your tin with Trex or vegetable shortening.
- Place the strips around the interior of the tin.
- Place the base piece inside.
N.B. When lining a square tin, each inside strip can afford to overlap at the corners. However, make sure you make a definite crease at the corners to ensure your cake comes out perfectly square.
You are now ready to bake your cake. Make sure your oven is preheated and your recipe thoroughly mixed. Pour the cake mixture into your tin to 3/4 of the height.
