Why to roll your sugarpaste out on icing sugar…
When decorating your cake, please remember NOT to roll your icing out on cornflour or cornstarch.
Twins Wedding Shop sells ready-made sugarpaste (otherwise known as ready-to-roll icing or fondant icing) packets which need to be rolled out before being used to cover your cake. We sell white and ivory sugarpaste and a variety of colours, as well as modelling and flower paste.
Despite advice on the internet, do not roll your sugarpaste out on cornflour. This can cause fermentation between your cake and the sugarpaste. Here at Twins, we dust the surfaces and rolling pin with icing sugar to roll out sugarpaste.
Please be sure to use just enough to prevent sticking. Too much icing sugar can cause your sugarpaste to crack. When on the cake, simply brush off excess icing sugar with a paintbrush.
